Sam Houston's Bowie Knife Sold for $297,000

By TheAlamoFilm.com

A knife that Sam Houston probably took into battle at San Jacinto in 1836 recently sold at a Texas auction for $297,000. The price, however, was paid so it would stay in Texas, and only Texas.

How it got on the auction block in the first place is a story almost as confusing as the De La Pena diary. Apparently the ownership rights of the Bowie Knife changed hands so many times in the course of a century and a half that the last owners to hold on to it decided to sell it because it was causing such am uproar among kin. Read the story here.
